Washington Metro Area Transit Authority
Concentric Security held a $49M, 5-year Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) to provide a broad cross section of physical security related products and services to the Washington Metro Area Transit Authority (WMATA). Following 9/11, WMATA received federal funding earmarked to upgrade critical transportation infrastructures in the Washington, DC area. They needed a company capable of providing all the required physical security technologies while meeting compressed lead times associated with the funding. BPA Task orders have included the design, supply and installation of a wide variety of technologies necessary toupgrade the WMATA headquarters complex. Technologies included blast hazard mitigation technologies for windows, vehicle barriers, X-Ray and metal detectors, architectural pre-cast concrete security barriers, guard booth, explosive resistant trash receptacles for all metro stations, optical turnstiles, bullet resistant guard stations, and the upgrade of the electronic security system for the headquarters building and several outlying facilities.
